  A hotel with a human touch, a cozy atmosphere, very pleasant and attentive staff. I have very fond memories of my stay at the Palacete, a haven of peace where I was able to recharge.

  We recently stayed at three hotels during our two-week visit to the Porto/Douro region, and of those three, we felt most at home at Palacete Severo. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely committed to making us feel cared for and at ease. We stayed in one of the old rooms inside the original house, beautifully restored with respect for its history, elegant, comfortable, and full of character, with a small desk where I could work. I loved the way the old house was restored with care, the art pieces displayed throughout the property, and the lovely garden. Even though it rained a lot during our stay, we were actually happy to spend time indoors. I enjoyed the spa and wellness area for a massage and the steam room, and even took a swim in the heated pool. Yes, even in early November! The bar is also very cosy, the perfect spot for a nightcap. We didn’t have the chance to try the Éon restaurant, and as we’re both vegan, we felt it might not (yet?) be adapted for plant-based fine dining, though they clearly did their best to accommodate us at the Severo bistro and for breakfast. Fortunately, Porto has wonderful vegan (friendly) restaurants such as Antiqvvm, Em Carne Viva, Seiva, and Nem Carne Nem Peixe. I can’t say enough about how kind and attentive the staff were. We’ll definitely be back.
