Replacing the D. Maria Pia Bridge, it now carries trains and provides a link between Porto-Campanhã station and destinations to the south, via Vila Nova de Gaia. Supported by 2 pillars in the River Douro, it has 3 spans that allow trains to cross. Elegant and imposing, it does not have an arch, but a multiple portico, a structure painted white unlike its neighbours.
