From the Ribeira quays
Easy! From the banks of the Ribeira, everywhere you look, it is magnificent. On one side the bridge, on the other the Douro which runs towards the ocean, Vila Nova on one side, the multicolored buildings on the other, all this, in an incredible perspective thanks to the steep location of Porto. Come on, click click!
We love this place, for its little shops, restaurants and the perspective it offers. High up, intimate, with the boats and the bridge in the distance, Vila Nova opposite, it's the ideal postcard. Read our page on the historic center to prepare for your visit.
Rua das Aldas viewpoint
Take the stairs next to the São Lourenço church, on the heights of Ribeira. There is a small terrace with a very nice view of the quays.
From the Dom Luis Bridge
From the lower apron, or the upper one, at any time of the day or night, it is probably the most beautiful view of Porto! The Dom Luis Bridge is one of the must-sees to do in Porto!
From a boat!
The most beautiful views of Porto can also be had on a beautiful day, from a river trip on a rabelo! Come on board with your camera!
The Gaia cable car offers very nice views of the city, it costs money but it's worth it!
From Jardin do Morro and Serra do Pilar
On the other side of the bridge, on the heights of Vila Nova de Gaia, enjoy 2 superb viewpoints: just at the entrance to the bridge, near the Jardim do Morro and by climbing onto the terrace of the Serra do Pilar to be even higher. You overlook the entire city, it's grandiose and difficult to highlight with a simple photo! Visit our page dedicated to Porto's gardens and parks.
Near the Escadas do Pedrosa
In Vila nova de Gaia, to have a beautiful panoramic view of the red-tiled cellars, which face La Ribeira, go near the Escadas do Pedrosa, to enjoy a clear view, all the way to the ocean! Take the opportunity to visit the maturation cellars and the Porto cellars!
At the top of the Clérigos Tower
A 360-degree view awaits you at the top of the Clérigos Tower, entry costs a small fee, and you'll also do some sport! see our page on the Clerigos Tower.
The panoramic view of Passeio das Virtudes
Above the Jardin des Virtudes in the city center of Porto, there is a grassy area with fences. Through it the view is very pleasant over the Douro, the park… it is a popular place for young people.
From the Virtudes Garden
This garden, which is a meeting place for Portuense youth and lovers, is all terraces. Each of them offers beautiful views.
From the Palacio do Cristal
This fairly large and well-maintained garden offers magical views in several directions: towards the quays and the Dom Luis Bridge and on the other side towards the ocean. There is an experience (paid) to climb to the top of the Super Bock Arena, to enjoy the 360 degree view.
Panorama from the small Santa Catarina chapel
On the heights of western Porto, the panorama of Santa Catarina is interesting because it is different. You will pass through pretty picturesque streets before reaching it. There is a small chapel at the top of the hill.
From the Foz do Douro pier (near the lighthouse), you enjoy a very beautiful view, but difficult to photogenic because it is very wide! Come and enjoy the spray from the pier!
From Passeio Fontainhas, near the ramparts
We return to the city center, on the edge of the Bonfim district. Beautiful view of the Dom Luis Bridge and the Serra do Pilar! In the distance, Gaia and the river!
From the old railway line
After the Infante Dom Henrique bridge, above Avenue Gustave Eiffel, there is a very pretty path, where it is pleasant to walk. You can take beautiful photos there because it offers an overlooking perspective.
From Traversa Cabo Simao
We are now on the other shore! This unusual point of view allows you to appreciate the Dom Luis Bridge, the wall, but from the Vila Nova de Gaia side and going up the river after the Sera do Pilar. There is a pretty promenade which leads to a wooden footbridge, and after a large square, all along the river. To do on an electric scooter if you don't have too much time!
From the footbridge of the Porto Nature Reserve
Continue towards the ocean past the docks of Vila Nova de Gaia. Go there by bike or scooter (or bus) and you will arrive at the Porto Nature Reserve, a nature space in the middle of the city, with a pontoon walkway for observing birds, but also the city!
From Marina do Douro
Porto is also a very pretty marina, which we recommend you visit! On a beautiful morning, stop at the fishing village next door and continue to the Marina to appreciate the superb sailboats and yachts.
